A worldwide automotive parts manufacturer manage an operation in Oxford feeding material ‘just in time’ to the BMW plant manufacturing the new ‘mini’. 

The sub-assemblies are built to suit exactly the requirements of each vehicle on the track and placed in sequence into pallets ready for delivery direct to the fitting point on the car assembly track.

The PASS application system performs the following: -

Receives electronically 10 day advance notification of manufacturing orders
Maintain a data bank of outstanding and completed orders
Holds the technical assembly requirements of each order
Receives electronically 16 hours advance notice of an orders requirement
Automatically warns if order details are missing, re-requesting order details
Receives electronically instructions to deliver an order
Prints order labels with barcodes
Order Labels include components and assembly instructions
Provides a bill of material for definition of assembly process
Ability to configure contents of printed label
Automatically advises of pallet filling in production sequence
Prints a pallet label showing contents and orders satisfied
Automatically reduces stock of components on pallet fill and dispatch
Allows for manual Re-orders of assemblies or individual components
Provides forward visibility reporting by assembly type
Produces a daily sequence report showing orders satisfied in sequence
Provides a daily stock report showing stock usage throughout the day
Communicates with component supplier via EDI
Uses industry standard OFTP message formats
Connects directly to BMW network (SPAB) to receive JIT messages
Records the stock balances of all components used in the assembly process
Offers audit trail showing where each component was used
Produces a range of management information to support operational management
